2 Year Old Assessment Checks
The EYFS requires all settings to provide parents and carers with a short written summary of the child’s development in the three prime areas: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication & Language.
Through observation and assessment practitioners make best-fit judgements about whether a child is showing typical development for their age or may be at risk of delay or is ahead for their age.
The check is completed at any point between the ages of 24 and 36 months, with many settings using this as as a settling in report.
The information is shared with parents and then used to underpin future planning to ensure the child reaches their full potential as numerous studies have shown that early intervention and identification is key.
