St Giles School

St Giles School is a Croydon-based special school for children and young people aged 2 to 19 who have complex physical disabilities, medical needs, and/or profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

The school provides a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where pupils are supported to learn, communicate, grow, and take part in everyday life - at a pace and in a way that works for them.

St Giles is part of Croydon’s network of specialist SEND schools and plays a key role in supporting children and young people with the highest level of need, both educationally and medically. 

Who is St Giles for?

St Giles supports pupils who:

  • Have physical and/or learning disabilities.
  • May have profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
  • Require medical support during the school day.
  • Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The school is fully accessible and equipped with specialist resources such as hydrotherapy, sensory rooms, and medical support facilities. 

Nursery at St Giles (Age 2-4)

St Giles also has a registered nursery for children aged 2 to 4 with PMLD and complex health needs.

The nursery provides:

  • A high level of individual care and support.
  • A focus on early communication and sensory learning.
  • Close partnership with health professionals, including therapists and nurses.
  • A welcoming space for families starting their SEND journey.

It helps young children settle into learning and begin developing important early skills.

How do I apply?

Places at St Giles School are managed by Croydon’s SEND Team through the EHCP consultation process.

To apply:

  • Your child must have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan).
  • The 0–25 SEND Statutory Service at Croydon Council will consult with St Giles as part of the placement process.
  • Speak to your child’s SENCo or contact the SEND team for more information.
