Special Assistance at Airports

If you are a young person with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or you’re travelling with a child who has additional needs, airports can offer extra support to help make your journey easier.

You can ask for special assistance when you book your flight or by contacting the airport at least 48 hours before you travel.

Who can get Special Assistance?

Airports can support people who:

  • Use a wheelchair or have a physical disability.
  • Find busy places stressful or overwhelming.
  • Have difficulties with social interaction and communication (e.g. autism).
  • Need extra help to get through security and boarding.
