Types of funding that are available to help with childcare costs

Under 1s

From September 2024, the funding entitlement is for children from 9-months of age to access up to 15 hours of funded early education and childcare.

2-year-olds

The funding entitlement is for 2-year-old children to access up to 15 hours of free early education and childcare, from the term after they turn 2-years-old.

3 and 4-year-olds

All 3 and 4-year-old children can access 15 hours of free early education and childcare, from the term after they turn 3-years-old. Some 3 and 4-year-olds can access up to 30 hours of funding.

  • You can get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare. For more information visit Tax-free childcare
